Last week was the opening reception for the new show at Studio 18. Despite the rain it was a wonderful evening.
This exhibition is really exciting because it was a chance for me to experiment with something new. I created an installation of sketches that were executed over the past 30 years. Drawing from my imagination, these doodles give an insight into my life and how I have grown as an artist.
The power to experiment…
There are always valuable lessons to be learned when an artist experiment’s. As artists we are always evolving, taking risks is a vital part of the growing process. In this particular case I decided to not only exhibit my sketches which have never been seen, but also to display them in a unusual manner, hanging from wire with a twist. Is this experiment a success? I guess time will tell.
Thank You to Studio 18 in The Pines and to Robyn Vegas who curated the show!
The exhibition will hang until May 30, a Studio Salon will be held on Friday, May 3, 2013 from 7:00 – 9:00 pm. All the artists will have a chance to speak about their works.
